Shear testing machine
The device enables: (1) an automatic process of programmed consolidation steps, (2) setting different speeds (from 0.00001 to 11.0 mm/min) and directions for each of the cycles in the shear test. Maximum vertical load per sample: 8 kN. Maximum horizontal force: 5 kN.
The device is only available in the laboratory. Only employees of the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology of the AGH University of Science and Technology are authorized to provide service. Laboratory works for external entities are carried out on the basis of a formal order (form available at: http://home.agh.edu.pl/~labgg/dokumenty/) after registration at the Administrative Office of the WGGIOŚ. The implementation of the research requires the consent of the Head of LBGiG.
The apparatus allows to determine shear strength parameters for total and effective stress for soils. The device allows to perform tests in accordance with PN-EN ISO 17892-10:2019-01.
The device is controlled by a microprocessor. It is equipped with a high-precision stepper motor. It enables determination of strength parameters for cohesive and non-cohesive soils, including special shear tests, e.g. residual strength and residual strength after saturation, which can be used to determine the stability of landslides.
