Technical description

The setup for non-destructive testing using laser-generated ultrasound is used to test construction materials such as metal alloys and composite materials. The device allows for non-contact excitation and detection of ultrasonic waves.

Conditions for providing infrastructure

In the case of projects/grants conducted in cooperation with other AGH departments/groups and external organizations, in which the device operator/attendant is a member of the team publishing the research results the infrastructure is made available free of charge. The use of device is possible in the presence of the operator/attendant.

Research capabilities

Detection of delamination, inclusions of foreign materials, imaging of porosity, and detection and imaging of composite layers' wrinkling. Testing of metals and metal alloys - detection of cracks and discontinuities, testing of bonded joints between metals, testing of thin sheets welded joints, determination of elastic constants based on elastic waves.
